Bidirectional charging for Mobility car sharing cars
5. July 2024The car sharing provider Mobility wants to become climate-neutral and has set itself the goal of fully electrifying its entire fleet by 2030 at the latest. This focus is also the reason for its constant interest in new technologies and therefore in innovative, sustainable partners.
This gave rise to the V2X pilot project, which was launched in Bern on 6 September 2022. The basic idea behind it is that electric cars not only consume electricity but can also store energy temporarily and feed it back into the grid as required when they are not being driven. Bidirectional charging is therefore the topic.
Also an interesting solution for car sharing
Of course, car-sharing vehicles are much less likely to be unused than private cars. Nevertheless, bidirectional charging technology can also be utilized here, thanks in part to the intelligent software from sun2wheel. Based on the information from the reservation system, the technology can control when the battery should be charged or discharged. This ensures that car sharing users always have enough power in the battery.
The V2X project is the result of successful teamwork. In addition to Mobility and sun2wheel, car manufacturer Honda, charging station developer EVTEC, the aggregator tiko and novatlantis as scientific advisor are all contributing to this. The pilot programme is also supported by the Swiss Federal Office of Energy (SFOE).
